Mz Catt had a very excitin’ day recently, darlin’. She met up with a lady friend from way back when Mz Catt was a 20-something young thing with no more sense in her head than a June bug.

Mz Carol and Mz Catt were on fire in those days. Oh my land, precious, the beaux we had…but Mz Catt digresses. Butter my buns and call me a biscuit, precious, Mz Catt just can’t reveal the conversation what with it being a bit naughty and all, but what a lovely day she had with her lady friend. New friends are allus nice to have, but old friends know us best, and thinkin’ back on the good old days brings a smile to the face.

Darlin’s – do y’all like Mz Catt’s new avatar? She thinks it’s a fair representation of herself, includin’ a glass of Bourbon Slush in her hand!

A lady nevah reveals her age, but Mz Catt is especially pleased that, although it’s a fine resemblance, the avatar still looks quite youthful.

Mz Catt’s late husband, Virgil, certainly enjoyed his evenin’ cigar. Darlin’s, he’d set there in a rockin’ chair with friends, reminiscin’ about the past while enjoyin’ handmade Cuban cigars and tall glasses of Bourbon on the rocks. As the evenin’ darkness progressed, the burning tips looked like fireflies winkin’ in the night. Mz Catt certainly does miss that.

Bein’ a true cigar aficionado, Virgil had all the accessories such as a big ol’ fancy humidor, an unusual cutter, special lighters, oh my! And those precious boxes they came in…Mz Catt believes all those cigar things are boxed up in the attic now.

Darlin’s, Mz Catt, who used to be a fanatical Duplicate Bridge player, is now breathless with the excitement of playin’ Duplicate Poker! She can’t wait to gather up her lady friends, serve them some Bourbon Slush, and teach them this fine new game.

Some nice gentlemen took the principles of Duplicate Bridge and applied them to Texas Hold’Em, and they call this excitin’ new online game “Duplicate Poker.”

Mz Catt lends her approval to this game because it’s a game of skill and therefore legal, rather than a wild gamblin’ event in a smokey backroom. It’s  played against people sittin’ at another table, who just happen to hold the same cards as y’all have.

By eliminatin’ the element of luck and increasin’ the skill factor, it makes for a fair poker game, and much more mentally challengin’, and Mz Catt always enjoys a challenge.

Miss Emmlou Harris, Country Music Hall of Famer and proud southern gal, has a big heart for animals that need rescuin’.

This fine woman brings homeless dogs to her very own home, 3 and even sometimes 5 of the poor babies, until they find loving permanent homes.

She also rallies support from the music industry, and heaven knows they have plenty of money to throw around.

Mz Catt adores her ponies, pups and kittie cats. They flock around for their treats every day, and know they are well-loved.

The Fixin’s

• 1 (6 ounce) can frozen orange juice concentrate
• 1 (12 ounce) can frozen lemonade concentrate
• 1 (46 fluid ounce) can pineapple juice
• 1 1/2 cups white sugar
• 2 cups strong brewed black tea
• 2 cups bourbon whiskey
• 1 (2 liter) bottle lemon-lime flavored carbonated beverage

Now Precious Stir It All Up

In a large bowl or container, mix together the orange juice concentrate, lemonade concentrate, pineapple juice, sugar, tea, and whiskey. Transfer to shallow bowls or dishes, and freeze overnight.

Remove the frozen mixture from the freezer and let stand for about 10 minutes. Chop with a wire whisk or potato masher to make a slushy consistency. Place scoops of the frozen slush into glasses, and top off with the lemon-lime flavored soda.
